There's traditional wisdom that says a place of work is to work in and that's it.
The result of this is to see people reprimanded for having fun at work, as if having fun at your place of work, mitigates your staff's ability to be productive.
I think that's an old-fashioned approach and according to numerous studies, it's flat out wrong.
In fact, curbing your employee's ability to have fun or to take short breaks from complicated issues will reduce the likelihood a project becomes a success.
Numerous studies have highlighted the fact that humor in the workplace, builds team spirit, increases overall productivity, strengthens the relationship between management and employees, and most importantly encourages creativity and innovation.
If there's one thing you don't want to do in any company, it's to decrease team spirit and quash creativity and innovation.
There's a number of ways to inject some humor into day-to-day life at the office and one of the ways I've chosen to do so in the last few weeks is to instruct the team to put a focus on making FUN product videos rather than the normal product information-driven videos that take themselves too seriously.
I think they turned out great, and I
hope you agree.
By bringing in many members of the team to all have a little part of the project, we've created a new series of videos that are great fun to watch and at the same time, they have been fun for us to make!
