Hi ,

If you’re like me you know that whenever you exercise, your mind just feels better afterwards. It seems that when I’m in the dumps, a work out usually goes a long way to pulling me out of it. That’s why when I came across a new study published in the journal The Lancet Psychiatry about how exercise can improve your mental health, I just had to share it with you.

The study looked at data from over 1 million people over the course of four years and found that people who exercise had 43% fewer bad mental health days compared to people who didn’t exercise at all. What was really cool is that even people who walked got many of the mental health benefits from exercise. The study found that people who saw the greatest mental health benefits from exercise worked out for about 45 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week.

To me this is yet another reason why we should make a habit of working out. It’s not just for our bodies, it’s for our mental well-being also! I have personally received letters from people who have followed our Lean Body Transformation program and have made changes in their eating and exercise habits that have enabled them to overcome many stressful difficulties in their life, like going through a divorce, getting over a major illness, recovering from an accident or losing their job.

We may not always have control over things that happen in life, but we do have the power to choose our response. And we can choose to exercise each day, knowing that it will benefit not only our bodies but our minds as well.

This week I would like to encourage you to keep choosing to exercise each day, and make it a lifelong healthy habit.

Your Brain on Exercise

Because while getting to the gym can sometimes take some serious self-talk, completing the deed always feels great afterward. You leave feeling happier, more energized, and focused on what’s ahead.

And here you thought all those sets and reps were just honing your fit body. Nope, exercise is just as good for your brain as it is for your biceps. Keep reading to learn a few ways that regular activity supports your lean, mean thinking machine.
