Hi ,
Spring is known as a time of renewal. I also think of it as a time of introspection. I like to set aside time to just think. No electronic devices, no phone calls, no interruptions. I find these minutes incredibly relaxing and stimulating, as it seems that something creative always happens. During one of these thinking sessions, I was pondering, "If I could choose one word to describe myself, what would it be?"
Imperfection. That’s the word that came to mind. Not because I feel sorry for myself. And I’m not a perfectionist. This word came to mind because I want to be clear-eyed when taking a "personal inventory" and determining the areas where I need improvement. And I want to improve and reach for my potential, becoming the best that I can be.
If I can’t have an honest conversation with myself about where I am now, then I have established no benchmarks to use as a starting point for improvement, right?
So I made a list of areas in my life where I think I can improve. Of course, I included fitness goals.
Many of my friends and followers think that I eat perfectly all the time, or that I don’t have any bad workouts. Well, that’s not true. It’s my life’s mission to help others get into great shape, but like those,
I’m trying to help, I am human. And that means that my fitness journey is not going to be perfect all the time. The important thing is to seek constant improvement right?
So I made a short list of those things that I wanted to focus on this spring. I want to drop 5 pounds, which I picked up over the course of the winter, and I want to sharpen up my abs for an upcoming family beach trip.
I would encourage you also to take out a piece of paper grab a pencil, make a short list of those areas that you want to improve. Then, take action. Even if it’s small steps, take real, tangible action towards the goals on your list. Do it this week, you’ll be surprised at how motivating this process can be! And remember that your fitness journey is about progress, not perfection.
